Totally Free Date Ideas You'll Actually Enjoy

Dates don't have to be expensive. You can find inexpensive date ideas that will keep you and your partner laughing and having fun together without breaking the bank.

Go on a bike ride together

If you and your significant other are looking for a fun and low-cost way to spend time together, going on a bike ride is the perfect choice. Bike riding is a great way to get exercise, see the sights, and bond with each other!

If you're new to biking together, start out slow by taking short rides around your neighborhood or nearby parks. Once you've gotten comfortable with riding side-by-side, try tackling some hills or riding longer distances!

Biking offers many benefits that make it ideal for first dates. It's inexpensive (so no financial stress), it's healthy (so no health anxiety), and it offers time outdoors in nature—a rarity these days!

Do something creative together, like paint by numbers or creating your own recipes

Creative dates are super fun, so why not do them with your partner? Google paint by numbers and you will come across a ton of fun printables for you to try. You can make a list of creative dates to do together and try something new every time. I highly recommend the Adventure Challenge Book for some more creative date ideas, however, this book is not free. Check it out here.

You can do creative dates at home or at the park! The possibilities are endless!

Have a picnic in the park

Have a picnic. Picnics are a great way to enjoy the outdoors, since you can plan them on almost any day of the year and in any location. You can make them as healthy or indulgent as you like, depending on what foods you bring along. And because picnics are easy to clean up after (just toss away the trash), this is an inexpensive date idea that won't leave you feeling guilty afterwards!

Go window shopping together or just walk the mall

If you and your boo are both big fans of shopping, this is a great date idea. You can look at all the items that you want to buy without actually buying them (and maybe even get a discount from your significant other).

If you’re more of a homebody than an adventurous person, then window shopping on a rainy day can be one of the best ways to spend time together. You can even treat yourself by getting some coffee or hot chocolate from an outdoor vendor and enjoying it inside while looking out at all the beautiful stores around you.

This activity is perfect for Valentine's Day because there's no pressure or expectations surrounding it: Going window shopping doesn't cost anything beyond what it costs to drive there (if anything), so if things don't go well with your partner just yet, they still won't feel like they wasted anything either!

Take turns choosing an activity to do together. This one requires prior planning

Taking turns with choosing activities is a good way to get the most out of your date. It helps you save money and time, so you can spend more time doing what you want to do.

First, decide how long each person gets to plan their activity. Let’s say two hours for example. Then take turns choosing an activity during that period of time. At first glance this may seem like it would add up very quickly in terms of cost or effort since both people are working together on the same project but if you think about it in terms of utilizing each other's strengths and interests then planning together can actually be fun because everyone gets a chance to contribute something unique!

Visit an art museum or gallery. Many museums offer free admission or suggested donations on certain days of the week or month

Visit an art class in your area. You can find classes offered by local colleges and universities, community centers, nonprofit organizations and more.

Plan a picnic at your favorite park with a big blanket and lots of food for you and your date to enjoy together!

Hit up a free concert or play in your area. A lot of community centers, libraries, parks, and city blocks host small shows that are free to the public

If you're looking for cheap dates, it doesn't get any better than free concerts and plays. A lot of community centers, libraries, parks and city blocks host small shows that are free to the public! You can take in some culture without spending a dime. Eventbrite is great for finding these local opportunities.

Game night

Play board games. You can play classic games like Monopoly, or other games like Minute to Win it or Family Feud and 20 questions. Play card games. Get out your old decks of cards and play a game of poker or blackjack, or learn how to play cribbage!

You can also play video games. If you have an Xbox One (or any other console), you can hook up your system and have a marathon gaming session with your partner—and if they don't have their own system yet, this would be an excellent time to take them out on the town for some game shopping!

Bring a frisbee and play frisbee golf at the park

One of the advantages of a frisbee golf date is that it can be played almost anywhere. You could go to a park and play at one of the many courses available, or you could head out to the beach on a sunny afternoon and play in the sand. No matter what you do, it's going to be fun and full of laughter!

Another benefit is that it's a great way for both parties involved in this activity to get some exercise while having fun together as well. This is especially true when playing in sand because there will be times where one person will try their best to throw their disc far enough so that it lands within a hole but also doesn't sink into another hole nearby (which would make them lose their turn). It's also important during these instances where both parties are trying hard not only because they want themselves but also because they don't want each other to lose either.

See, you don't need to spend a lot of money to have fun. Stop making excuses and get out and have some fun!
