Best Work at Home Jobs for Moms

For moms who want flexible part-time jobs, work at home jobs are a great choice. For a stay at home mom, they offer you the opportunity to create your own schedules and be your own boss while still being able to spend time with the kids. But which work from home job is the most profitable? We've put together a list of the best work from home jobs for moms!

If you have previous work experience and children, you may find it difficult to balance the two. While getting a job outside the home can provide a steady source of income, it can be tiring and difficult to manage with parental responsibilities. Fortunately, there are several options that allow you to make money without leaving your house. These jobs offer many advantages, including:

  • Independence - Unlike traditional jobs that require an office or other location, these positions let you work wherever you want (as long as your computer is nearby).

  • Flexibility - Many of these jobs operate on a freelance basis or allow for flexible hours so that you can choose when and how often you work. You'll also be able to decide how much time you want to put into each task.

  • Attractive compensation - Depending on the type of job and your skill level, some opportunities might pay more than others. The amount of money they'll bring in will vary according to quality but generally reflect industry standards regarding what people usually earn per hour or project completion date deadline (if applicable). This means if someone else is offering $25 an hour at their own position then yours should probably be worth about that much too!

Become a Virtual Assistant

One of the most common questions we get is that, why would someone want to hire me? Why would someone want to pay me a monthly salary just to answer their phone or send an email or help them with a few tasks?

We look at it like this: Sure, it's not a lot of money. But if you add up all the money you spend on people who don't show up to work, don't know what they're doing, and can't communicate well with you (and don't even bother to show up), then it suddenly doesn't seem so bad. When we started out in our careers, we went through all the same stuff—and we haven't changed much since then! We are still applying for jobs and sending out cover letters that have been sent out thousands of times before. And yes, there are lots of companies where we'll never be hired because they're really picky about their employees. But some of those companies have special departments for hiring "virtual assistants" who wear headsets and use computers –that's us!

Work for a Cash Back Website

Working for a cash back website can be one of the easiest ways to get free money. Cash back websites are sites that you sign up for, and shop online through their specific stores. You will receive a percentage of your purchase in return, and the best part is that it's all money you would have spent anyway. For example, if you shop at Walmart.com through E-bates and it says they're giving 3% cash back, every $100 you spend there will earn you $3 in return. It doesn't take much to add up over time!

Once you sign up for a cash back website and get started earning, make sure to check the site often so that you can claim your cash back by request. Staying on top of this will ensure that the money earned is saved into your account and not lost! Some great websites to use are Ebates, Swagbucks, and Inbox Dollars.

Proofreading and Editing

Proofreading is the process of reviewing a written work and making changes to correct errors in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. It’s also concerned with formatting and layout (e.g., margins, fonts, spacing). In other words, proofreaders are not allowed to make any substantive changes—we simply fix typos and mistakes.

Editing is the process of reviewing a written work and making changes to improve clarity, consistency, and structure. On the contrary to proofreading, editors are permitted to make substantive changes that actually alter the content of a document or manuscript.

Does this distinction seem unimportant? I’ve been told by many people that it doesn’t matter whether they think they’re doing editing or proofreading as long as they get paid either way. The problem with that perspective is that each job requires different qualifications (see below). If you do only one type of job but have credentials for the other type, you won’t be taken seriously.

Blogging

Blogging is a great way to start your own business, as it doesn’t cost much to begin and can be done from home. Blogging is not only a creative outlet, but you can also earn money from it. You’ll need to invest your time and energy into building an audience for your blog, but once you have one, there are plenty of ways to monetize your content.

As with anything that has the potential to make money, you can turn blogging into a full-time business if you put in the work!

Tutor Kids Online

If you have a college degree in students (or are willing to get one), there are plenty of excellent ways to become a certified tutor and start teaching students online. Some companies will even give you training and qualifications, so check out these work at home jobs for people with teaching degrees. However, keep in mind that majoring in something does not automatically mean you will be qualified to teach it, so make sure you have the right knowledge before taking on any tutoring positions. You'll also need a reliable internet connection, good computer and webcam, as well as good lighting and audio capabilities.

Start an E-commerce Site or Online Store

Running your own online store is a great way to spend some time each day, and it can also be a very lucrative business. But before you start, there are somethings you should know about starting an online store for moms.

For starters, don't overlook the importance of branding when selecting your theme and colors. If you choose an offbeat color or theme that isn't a great fit for you and your lifestyle, it may not serve as much as a positive influence on the image of your brand. On the other hand, choosing colors that are too similar to those of an already well-established brands can leave people thinking your brand is somehow associated with them. The colors and designs of your choice should contrast with the colors or styles already established by other brands in order to stand out from them in a positive way.

Also be sure that you have compelling reasons why people would want to shop at your store over others. Do they have some little secret that makes shopping at their store better than others? Is there something unique about their product? A lot of times it's difficult to find this reason at first sight if they haven't put much thought into it yet - but after doing more research and talking with potential customers, you might uncover what makes their shop so special!

Sell on Amazon FBA

Do you have a great idea for a product that you don't see on Amazon? Do you want to make (and earn) money selling it? If so, then selling on Amazon FBA may be the best work at home idea for you.

Amazon FBA is short for "Fulfillment by Amazon," and it's a service that allows people to sell products through Amazon without having to ship them themselves. Instead, they pay Amazon to store their products in its warehouses and ship them out when customers buy them.

You can learn more about this opportunity by reading our article: How to Sell on Amazon FBA: A Step-by-Step Guide.

Sell on Etsy, eBay, or other Marketplaces

If you have experience selling items online and know how to navigate all the rules and fees, you can make a good income. You can sell on places like Etsy or eBay. Etsy is a great place to sell items that are handmade like scarves, jewelry, or art. eBay is an auction-based site where many people sell their items under fixed prices, but there are also options for auctions if you want to go that route.

Just make sure you understand all the rules of whichever site you choose before jumping in!

Teach an Online Course or Class.

As a parent and an online educator, I know that it can be difficult to find the time to teach an online course or class, especially when you're also doing other things like staying home with a newborn. Believe me, I know.

But there are plenty of ways to earn money while simultaneously working at home by teaching yourself something that could benefit beginners and helping them improve their skills. Let's look at eight great options:

  • Teach yourself [some subject]. If you have some knowledge in a particular topic, this is a great option for making money online as an online teacher. You can talk about whatever you want (as long as it's legal). You might even make good money if you're interested in your topic enough. For example, if you've always wanted to teach piano lessons but didn't know how to get started and now have experience teaching children, teaching yourself how to play piano on YouTube might be the way forward!

Photography

  • If you enjoy taking photos, this one's for you. Anyone can make money from photography; all it takes is a camera and some creativity. If your pictures are of kids, pets, or family members, these are the kinds of photos people will want to buy as prints or on items such as t-shirts or mugs. However, if you're more interested in capturing images of nature or landmarks (such as mountains), you can sell these too.

  • The good news is that you don't need an expensive camera to make money from photography; even a smartphone will work! To upload your pictures to stock photography sites like iStockPhoto or Shutterstock, make sure they are high resolution and meet the guidelines listed on their websites. These services only accept certain file types and image sizes (for example, JPEG). After uploading your photos to a stock photography site, all you have to do is wait for someone to buy them. You will probably be asked questions about your photos (such as licensing restrictions), so check back regularly so that you can respond promptly with helpful information if necessary.

Working from home can be a rewarding way to spend your time and make money without leaving the house.
